Michele R. Chappell, MS, BS, CPC, CMBS, CMRS There is a small sector of leaders in the business world who are individuals that are able to build relationships, trust and rapport with almost anyone. These individuals are able to negotiate relationships and make connections between people. They are able to create partnerships and alliances, and motivate teams to move forward to assure that the job is completed with excellence. Michele Chappell is one of those people, getting things done and accomplishing results through collaboration, partnerships, and relationships as a manager in the healthcare industry and educator in the Allied Health Division at Bryant & Stratton College, is what she excels at doing. With a wholehearted and genuinely friendly attitude, Michele exudes a sincere passion for delivering value and benefits to her students and members of the American Academy of Professional Coders. Michele earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Medaille College, Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from D’Youville College. Michele is credentialed as a certified professional coder, certified medical billing specialist and certified medical reimbursement specialist. Her professional medical experiences encompass 30 years of practice in the following specialties; obstetrics and gynecology, vascular and general surgery, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery. Michele’s professional activities include; coordinating medical lectures, seminars and symposiums for a variety of medical groups and physicians. She is a member of the following professional organizations; former member of The American College of Health Care Executives, Healthcare Executive Forum, and current member of the following organizations; Medical Association of Billers, American Academy of Professional Coders, American Medical Billing Association. Professional leadership positions include past president of the American Academy of Professional Coders, WNY Chapter, and vice president of the Medical Association of Billers, WNY Chapter. Michele's community service involvement includes; Member of the Eastern Star which helps those in need in Western New York to include but not limited to the indigent, armed service members, and scholarship opportunities, plus the Italian American Woman’s Associations, and the Woman’s Romulus Group. Michele’s Mission is to: Continue and advance membership in the WNY American Academy of Professional Coders chapter, to provide medical speakers of distinction thus enhancing knowledge of each member, and to arrange meeting locations to be more accessible to all members. Engage the chapter in increased meaningful community activities.
