Introduction

What does Clinical Decision Support (CDS) provide with knowledge and person-based information, intelligently filtered and presented at appropriate times. CDS can provide enhance health and healthcare.

CDS supports this knowledge to:

  1. Clinician
  2. Staff
  3. Patients
  4. Other individuals

The goal of the study was to provide a user-centered perspective that could help developers optimize CDS functions to meet the needs of physicians in a community-based setting. [1]

Methods/Results

Study was to gain insight into the following

  1. goals
  2. Environments
  3. Tasks
  4. Desired support tools

How study conducted was with Human-computer interaction

  1. 30 recorded interviews
  2. 25 Observations - primary care providers
  3. 15 Observations - Urban and rural community based clinics


Conclusion

Findings from the study was physicians feel that the decision support needs to be extended from current process. Two other discussions where brought up by the physicians and they where
