Mission

Goals

The goals for identifying core competencies in clinical informatics include:

  • Design of program curricula (which ought to include the competencies relevant to program objectives);
  • Design of individual courses (which must operationalize competencies at a more granular level);
  • Assessment of individuals to determine satisfactory completion of courses or programs;
  • Assessment of individuals by professional organizations, for purposes of certification or qualification in the field;
  • Evaluation of programs and curricula, for purposes of accreditation;
  • Defining the field of clinical informatics and its subdomains.
