Confusion over meaning of "cervical mass" e.g., re: cervix or cervical vertebrae
From Clinfowiki
A fellow was doing a chart review for research purposes. He wanted to start by just pulling all the patient records with cervical mass.
As he was going through his results, one record stood out; the patient was male. On closer review the record was completely reasonable. It was a patient referred to ENT for the removal of a neck (cervical) mass.
This raised the question as to how many of the female charts were also neck masses as opposed to uterine masses. This goes way beyond operating on the left foot when you meant to operate on the right foot.
